Important information for library patrons
The Tagish Community Centre, where the Tagish Public Library was co-located, was reported to be on fire on the morning of Wednesday March 12. We are actively exploring solutions to re-establish library services in Tagish. While the physical library is closed, we strongly encourage our patrons to access Yukon Public Libraries' extensive digital resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more.
What should patrons do with library materials?
Tagish patrons are welcome—but not obligated—to return borrowed materials at any Yukon Public Libraries branch throughout Yukon. As part of the Yukon Public Libraries system, Tagish patrons can borrow and return items at any library branch in the Yukon. The Carcross Community Library, being the closest to Tagish, may be a convenient option for those looking to access physical collections during this time.
Patron accounts & borrowed items
All borrowed items from Tagish library patrons will have their due dates automatically extended. We do not charge late fees, and no penalties will be incurred during this time. Patrons' accounts will remain active and fully functional, with uninterrupted access to digital resources and services.
Future of Tagish Library Services
We will keep the community regularly updated on our progress, and any interim services available. Updates will be communicated through our website, social media channels, and local news sources.
Donations and Offers of Support
We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and generosity from the community. At this time, we are not able to accept book or material donations. Once we have a clearer picture of what’s needed, we’ll share information about how the community can help—if and when donations are appropriate.
