Whitehorse Public Library offers space to individuals, non-profit groups, and governments when not in use for library programs. Many questions about the space can be answered on the meeting room policy page. You must have a library card to book the space. Individuals and groups are responsible for abiding by library policies.
Some community libraries have meeting space available. See your local library page to inquire about meeting space.
Whitehorse Public Library has one meeting room that seats 44 (maximum 50 standing). This is called the "whole room". This space can be split into two sides to accomodate simultaneous use by groups of 22 or fewer. One side has access to the computer and smart screen (Fireweed) and one side has access to the sink and white board (Lupine). Groups can book up to 2 months in advance, and can hold a maximum of 2 bookings per month. Individuals can book the meeting room up to 24 hours in advance.
You must have a library card to book the room. If the person booking the room will not be in attendance, they are still responsible for making sure the group understands and abides by any policies and procedures.
Whitehorse Public Library has 2 study booths, which we call "pods". One is a single booth, and the other can fit up to two people. Study pods can be booked up to 24 hours in advance. You must have a library card to book a study pod.
Pick up the key from the librarian upstairs. You will need your library card.
You may re-arrange the meeting room(s) as long as you are not blocking any exits. Staff do not set up the room. Staff can sometimes help with equipment when time allows. Food and drink are permitted.
Return the key to the librarian. Leave the space as you found it. Staff do not clean up dirty dishes or garbage. Recycling must be sorted, otherwise it ends up in the garbage.
