Worldwide Spin in Public Day began over 15 years ago, sparked by a passionate group of spinners in Tulsa, Oklahoma (the Get Stitchin’ crew). Their goal? To celebrate the ancient, meditative art of handspinning – twisting fibers from wool, alpaca, cotton, silk, or even exotic blends into beautiful, functional yarn. What started as a local idea quickly spun worldwide, with events now popping up in parks, museums, city squares, and cafes across continents.

It’s more than just spinning; it’s about preserving a timeless skill, connecting with community, and demystifying where our yarn truly comes from in an age of fast fashion.

The Northern Fibres Guild is a group who enjoys working with and learning about fibres and all fibre related activities. The purpose of the guild is to support members in increasing their skills and to provide support and education to the public regarding the fibre arts.
