Workshop description: Improvisation is usually associated with short scenes, but it can also be used to create longer productions. Improv was used to create award-winning films like This is Spinal Tap, Secrets and Lies, and TV shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm. In this two-part, full day workshop, we’ll look at a few of the methods involved.
Part 1: "Funny Ideas" (10:30 am to 1 pm) is about freeing our minds to come up with comic ideas and putting those ideas into a story structure.
Break 1 to 2 pm (lunch not provided)
Part 2: "Funny Scenes" (from 2 to 4:30 pm) will explore how comedy plays out in scenes, and how serious-sounding ideas like character goals, emotions, and dramatic tension can make our comedy funnier.
Parts 1 and 2 together make up this FULL DAY workshop.
Location: Whitehorse Public Library meeting room.
Snacks and refreshments provided. Book sales available (Mac's Fireweed Books).
