Enjoy tea and entertainment with Southern Tutchone Elder, language warrior, knowledge keeper and master storyteller
Join us as we welcome Special Guests from our Yukon community to share their unique skills, knowledge, talents, and tales with an exciting and special story time.
Earl Darbyshire is an artist whose creative work is deeply rooted in the land, waters, and stories of his ancestry. Of Tagish Kwan and Southern Tutchone heritage, Earl was raised along the Yukon River in Whitehorse. His earliest memories are shaped by places like Whiskey Flats, the Shipyards, and Sleepy Hollow. They were his first classrooms where he absorbed the sounds, rhythms, and teachings of his culture.
Earl’s artistic practice is grounded in oral tradition. His stories are brought to life through music and performance, using voice, rhythm, and humour to reach both the heart and the mind. Whether performing on stage or in more intimate gatherings, he invites audiences into a shared space of memory, laughter, and reflection. His work affirms the vitality of Indigenous storytelling as a living, evolving art form.
