Yukon residents without a library card can sign up for a temporary library card number online. This number is valid for 90 days and can be used to access online resources. Online cards may not be renewed. Come into your library with ID and proof of Yukon residence to get a permanent card.
Note that we cannot use Health Care or Status cards as ID due to privacy legislation. For questions about ID, please contact us.
You can borrow up to 28 items at a time from a Yukon Public Library. Some restrictions apply.
Materials such as books, magazines and books on CD can be borrowed for up to 28 days. Up to 4 DVDs can be borrowed for up to 7 days.
You can return your items to any Yukon Public Library.
Digital materials have different checkout limits and lending periods, depending on which format you using. To find out more about borrowing and returning e-Books, audiobooks, and digital magazines, visit the download and stream page.
Yukon resident cards are valid for up to a year. You can renew your card in person or over the phone. Contact your local Yukon public library. Public library cards are free for Yukon residents. Your library card gives you access to materials from all 15 public libraries throughout the Territory, plus access to the digital collection. Permanent card holders may make purchase suggestions, as well as borrow items from outside of our library system via interlibrary loan.
Visitors to Yukon can get a temporary library card for a $10 refundable deposit. Visitors can borrow up to 4 items at a time. Temporary cards are valid for 6 months.
If you find an item that you paid for, bring it to the circulation desk within 90 days of payment and we will issue you a refund. We are unable to issue refunds for paid-for items that are returned through the drop box outside.
You'll be charged for borrowed materials that are returned damaged. This charge is the current replacement value for the item. Your borrowing privileges will be suspended until the item is paid for.
